Nicole Kidman is the cover star of ELLE's April Impact Issue.

The 56-year-old Oscar winner posed in a series of racy designer looks. In one of the photos, Nicole poses in Dolce & Gabbana lingerie in a seductive pose, lying on the mirror. In another, she mimics the famous scene from Basic Instinct in a draped Loewe dress.

In the accompanying interview, Nicole talks about her happy moment in life and the satisfaction she gets from her relationships. “I have a very busy life with people I love. I'm raising daughters. I'm a wife, I'm a best friend. I'm a sister, I'm an aunt. And that to me is the meaning of life—and then caring about what we leave behind, who we leave behind and how we do it, and our sense of respect for that.”

Nicole's next project is the Amazon series The Expats, in which she plays a mother whose son goes missing at a Hong Kong night market. Although it was an excruciating job for the mother of four, Kidman said she was grateful for the life lessons her career taught her.

“I’m lucky to have a job that allows me to explore emotional landscapes that are difficult, strange, extraordinary, bizarre, beautiful and deep,” she said. “I don’t shy away from them, partly because I strive to explore life, what it means to be alive and to feel.” 

However, there are some aspects of her job that Nicole is not happy about. After a glamorous red carpet or a fashion party, she always wants to go home to her bubble.

“Sometimes it feels a little unreal. I want to go away, take off my dress and put on a jumper. It's kind of the opposite of Cinderella: I'm glad to be home. I want to be warm, I want to curl up, I want to feel real.”  Kidman lives in Tennessee with her husband Keith Urban and two teenage daughters Sandi and Faith.
